Wireless Power System

As stated by Eric Giler, chief executive of US firm Witricity; In 1 to 1 1/2 years time, you could be charging your cell phone wirelessly or installing your new flat screen TV without plugging it in.

The technology used to implement such a system is common in most household appliances today where two magnetic coils sit next to each other and vibrate at a fixed frequency (resonance) and a charge is sent between the two, transferring electronic energy from one to the next without affecting other surrounding objects.

Technology has been created whereby one of these coils is attached to the wireless device and the other to an outlet. They then vibrate at a fixed frequency and energy is transmitted between the two whenever they are within their respective magnetic fields.

As to the safety aspects of such technology; the energy is transferred through magnetic fields at a specific frequency meaning they don’t affect other magnetic objects or humans (which, by-the-way, are non magnetic), as long as they don’t resonate at the same frequency.
